Focused on advancing our technology and integrating web-based navigation, this EHR will allow HCA UK clinicians and colleagues to enhance patient safety, quality and care and to maintain our outstanding ratings and continue to be a global market leader in complex care.

Therefore, we are investing in a new workforce to lead this change, and we are actively recruiting now for a 2023 start, focused on change management, transforming work practices, and project delivery of goals and objectives.


In summary


This a fantastic opportunity for an experienced leader, you will be part of a senior leadership team which will embark on a division-wide transformational programme led by the Electronic Health Record (EHR) Programme Director.

This programme includes multiple workstreams across the business.

As the lead of your assigned responsibility specialist area, you will take ownership of all aspects of the strategy, project control, change management and benefits analysis and ensure the platform delivers value to the organization in the short and long term.

This includes end-user engagement, communications, education, go-live support, post-live support, optimization and transition.


Specific deliverables and top priorities for this role are:

  • Accountable for the management of the 4 laboratory workstreams supporting the delivery of an EHR solution, including pathology, microbiology, serology, immunology, as well as overall operations.
  • Leading the definition of requirements for laboratories and the laboratory information management system (LIMS) as they relate to the discovery, design and deployment of the programme, ensuring that business processes are reviewed and improved to minimise the bespoking of any technical solution, while ensuring the needs of the business, patients and consultants are met.
  • Responsible for line management of the workstream leads, providing vision and direction, and working collaboratively with key stakeholders and experts across the business, to incorporate the pathways from all facilities (acute and primary care) to laboratories and thirdparty pathways.
  • Responsible for the management of risks and issues for the workstream, escalating to a programme level where appropriate, following change control process and adopting standard project governance.
  • Responsible for ensuring reporting on the workstream progress, dependencies, risks and issues, costs and resourcing for consolidation up to a programme level with accountability measures and KPIs mapped against objectives.
  • Working collaboratively across workstreams to ensure a joinedup approach working with the development teams on system design, build, testing and business adoption including training.
  • Progressive leadership experience and understanding of the healthcare industry.
  • Previous ownership experience leading a large scale project team, with multiple resources and stakeholders to deliver a change programme.
  • Previous experience in driving the development of technology solutions and managing the people change management to adopt the change, impacting culture and driving efficiencies to benefit the organisation, (ideally, implementation of an EHR but not essential).
  • Excellent organisational and people management skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to challenge effectively when necessary.
  • A proactive approach to overcoming obstacles and the ability to inspire and bring the business on a journey.
