Our client are looking for a GCSE English Language Tutor who will be working with on a
Temporary basis for
1 working day a week.

You will be responsible for the planning, resourcing and delivery of the English Language GCSE resit lessons which take place online every Monday.

The Tutor will be a dynamic individual who is able to develop and maintain positive relationships online via Teams, with young people aged 16-18, while motivating them and maintaining standards of effort and conduct.

Learners undertaking the GCSE resit have all previously achieved Grade 3 and are working to secure Grade 4+ in the summer exams.


Duties and responsibilities:

  • Online delivery of GCSE English Language resit lessons
  • Planning for the achievement and retention of learners on programme.
  • Effective interpretation of a range of initial assessment and diagnostic tools.
  • Preparation for and conduct of the Spoken Language assessment element of the GCSE and liaison with our external exam centres to share the results/recordings
  • Support to fully prepare learners for the summer exam papers
  • Follow up with Centre Principals across the Centres regarding attendance/absence and where possible/appropriate, liaise with adults at home to ensure engagement of learners.
  • Ensuring all delivery meets quality and performance standards set by Skills Training UK.
  • Achieving a minimum of Grade 2 in all internal and external inspections, monitoring visits and observations
  • Attending curriculum working groups where necessary
  • Administrating and completing paperwork associated with programme within required timescales.
  • Keeping up to date with any awarding organisation changes and requirements

Background and experience:


  • Achieved a fully endorsed teaching qualification such as a Cert Ed, PGCE, DTLLS or equivalent as a minimum qualification.
  • Subject specialist qualification
  • IT qualification desirable.
  • Excellent understanding of how to effectively interpret a range of initial assessment and diagnostic tools.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience delivery experience
  • Robust classroom management skills.
  • Experience and knowledge of Ofsted inspections desirable
  • Good time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
  • High standard of customer care
  • Good organisational and administration skills

  • Participate in the staff review process to include identification of own training needs.
  • Evidence own CPD and achievement using the Breathe HR system.
  • Take appropriate responsibility to ensure the health and safety of self and others.
  • Advance and integrate equality and diversity throughout all activities.
  • Comply with policies and procedures.
  • Ensure and protect the safeguarding of and welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and follow the appropriate processes in place where concerns arise.
