Working Hours:
Mon-Fri / 8:30am - 4:30pm


Pay Rate:

  • £23-£26


The Client is a purpose-built hospital, consisting of six specialist separate units, providing inpatient assessment and treatments services to adults and children who are living with a learning disability.

It is a Centre of Excellence and hosts a SpecialistAssessment and Treatment Service (SATS).


About the role:


To undertake the role of an Advanced Occupational Therapist (AOT), utilizing high levels of decision making and clinical judgment, ensuring that patient health needs are met through the diagnosis and the management of complex patient conditions includingassessment, treatment and review planning processes in partnership with patients and families.

To provide highly specialist advice to healthcare professionals, other agencies, carers, clients and relatives. The AOT role encompasses that of expert clinician, educator and leader.


Skills Required:

  • Extensive post registration experience
  • Significant experience working with people with autism and/or learning disabilities at a senior level
  • Experience of managing and/or supervising junior staff / students
  • Evidence of clinical assessment skills with reference to Autism and Learning Disability
  • Ability to use specific Occupational Therapy standardized assessments, outcome measurements e.g., Assessment of Motor and Process Skills, sensory processing, Model of Human Occupation Screening Tool.
  • Highly developed specialist OT knowledge, underpinned by theory and experience
  • Ability to teach service users, relatives and staff, treatment programmes and best practice.
  • Ability to demonstrate written skills that are relevant, accurate, concise and legible.
  • Evidence of time and resource management skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, varying approach, according to need / situations.
  • Ability to reflect and critically appraise own performance.
