We are looking for an enthusiastic, curious, and compassionate Performance leader, with great attention to detail and drive for improving patient care.


You will be responsible for providing foundation group, executive and divisional level performance reports for the Trust, bringing together transparent and easily interpretable consolidated views, outlining the key areas the Clinical Directorates and Corporate Teams management team need to focus on, identifying performance improvement opportunities to deliver improved patient care.

The Head of Data Science (Performance) will lead and co-ordinate the development and implementation of the Trust's Performance Management Framework.

This will integrate a wide range of measures and processes across the Hospital.

The framework will provide the Trust Board, Divisions and Corporate Departments with greater visibility and understanding of the delivery of the services provided at George Eliot NHS Trust in line with national and local indicators and standards.

In conjunction with other team colleagues, the post holder will oversee the design and delivery of the demand and capacity planning tools

Leadership and Communication

Provide strong visible leadership and expertise within the Trust, in partnership with Divisions, on matters relating to performance standards.


Maintain a high profile within the Trust and engage with staff at all levels, including clinicians, to ensure that performance standards are treated with the highest priority.


Establish effective communication channels between the Divisions and other corporate functions to ensure that good practice is rapidly shared and that areas of concern are escalated so that appropriate action can be taken.


Work to integrate the four core aspects of performance management through the Organisation - operational performance, quality and safety performance, workforce and finance.

Delivery and presentation of contentious and sensitive performance information


Identification of development opportunities for yourself and those around you, adopting innovations and practices learned from the wider analytics community.


Work closely alongside Performance Leads in the Foundation Group Trust and other local organizations to identify consistencies and alignments across organisations.

Performance Management

Contributing to strategic thinking on medium to long term performance improvement strategies.


Development and implement the Trust's Performance Management Framework, to include where necessary the production and monitoring of recovery action plans and trajectories, regularly reviewing this to ensure continuous alignment to the Trusts strategy and objectives.

Lead on the co-ordination and delivery of operational performance improvement trajectories.

Overview and sign off of performance measures for business cases.

Respond to regional and national performance enquires

Work to foster an environment where statistical performance and clinical performance are seen as critically interlinked.

Promote a customer focused service delivery culture across the directorate.

Provide accurate forecasting models for all areas of performance.

Lead on the development and on-going improvement of the Trust's Integrated Performance Dashboard for the Trust Board and Divisions

Oversee the regular production and lead on the analysis of the Trust Integrated Performance Report and the Finance and Performance Executive Reports

Support and hold Divisions to account to deliver a range of performance standards and targets

Anticipate and plan for changes to any business or technical constraints.
