We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to take on our role of
Fresh Meals Delivery Driver, delivering hot two course meals to our service users in the community.


Job Type:
Part-time, 9 hours Monday-Wednesday working an additional 3 hours every other Sunday.

£10.42 per hour

Gravesend and surrounding areas


Key Responsibilities:


  • Report to Community Services Administrators at beginning and at the end of the shift.
  • Follow specific documented requests of each individual's needs, e.g.; assisting to plate the meal, or placing the meal where it is easily accessible.
  • Follow set route as scheduled, contact office if altered due to traffic related issues, or delays with customers.
  • Report any client or service concerns without delay to the Community Services Manager and or Community Services Deputy Manager.
  • Keep meals stored in insulated bags inside thermalized boxes to ensure the meals are at the optimum temperature.
  • Ensure thermalized boxes are kept in an upright position and are secure, once in the vehicle to avoid spillages.
  • Record and document temperature of spare meal with the food temperature probe, and sanitize after each use.
  • Document on schedule last meal delivery time.
  • Record business mileage accurately on form provided and any other expenses incurred on behalf of Age UK North West Kent.
  • Collect and receive cash payments for the service, documenting on the work schedule and offering a receipt.
  • Ensure the administrative procedures are adhered to.
  • Ensure that the service operates efficiently and to a high standard, agreed by Age UK North West Kent and any external contract or inspection quality standards within allocated budgets.
  • Participate in any appropriate care plan meetings, reviews and case conferences concerning service users as directed by the Community Services Manager and or Community Services Deputy Manager.
  • Promote, respect and uphold the dignity of service users at all times. Participate in, and actively support, activities to promote the dignity of service users, their families and carers.
  • Promote greater understanding of the needs of older people among the general public.
Attend team meetings, supervision and annual appraisal meetings.

  • Wear uniform provided, display Identification Badge and use of (PPE) Personal Protective Equipment; e.g.; disposable gloves, overshoes and aprons.

Administration:


  • Maintain accurate records, completing time sheets and mileage sheets and returning paperwork to office on a weekly basis.
  • Enable service user records to be updated on a regular basis to ensure accurate details and statistics are maintained at all times.

Other duties:


  • Responsible for own Health and Safety in the workplace, ensuring a safe working environment for all service users, staff, visitors and volunteers, in accordance with the Age UK North West Kent Health & Safety policy and procedures.
  • Undertake any other duties as directed by the Community Services Manager that contributes to the success of Community Services across the group.
  • Perform other duties as required by the Organisation.
  • Adhere to Staff Handbook and Staff Behaviour Framework.
  • Actively participate in and support any fundraising campaign by the charity.
  • Understanding of Basic Food Hygiene and Health and Safety
  • Effective communication, including good interpersonal skills, a nonjudgmental attitude, and listening skills
  • Ability to work as a member of a team as well as on their own
  • Good organisational skills
  • Understanding of the needs of older people and their carers
  • Knowledge of local areas of Gravesham, Dartford and Swanley
  • Experience of working with older people and older people with dementia and/or disabilities
  • Experience of working with carers and families
  • Full clean driving licence with access to own transport
