What will you be doing?

Reporting to the Control and Instrumentation Engineer, typical duties will include:

  • Carry out calibration, planned and reactive maintenance on all Controls and Instrumentation assets across the plant
  • Fault finding, installing and maintaining electrical systems, instrumentation(pressure, temperature, flow and level) and control systems
  • Pressure Gauges
  • Calibrations and loop checking of instruments relating to the sites DCS/control systems
  • Control systems for Overhead Cranes
  • Control systems for Stoker Grates and High Pressure Boilers
  • Steam Turbines controls, water and Steam Control valves controls set up, defect/ problem solving and routine maintenance
  • Maintaining and conducting preventative maintenance and problem solving on the Stack continuous emissions monitoring equipment (CEMS)
  • PLC fault diagnosis and programmingRotating Plant including motordriven Fans, guide vane actuation and Pumps
  • Assist in the development of plant modification and improvement work
  • Ideally, a basic understanding of low to medium voltage systems
  • To assist in major outage programmes and supervise contract staff as required
  • To assist with the coaching of apprentices to ensure that they gain the appropriate level of exposure to working practices, and the experience that they need to progress
  • Ensuring strict HSE compliance at all times

What are we looking for?

  • A recognised electrical/C&I engineering apprenticeship ideally gained in a heavy process industry
  • An HNC/ONC or equivalent in Controls & Instrumentation Engineering
  • A solid level of knowledge and understanding of maintenance strategies associated with control systems
  • At least 5 years of experience working in the maintenance team in a heavy process environment such as a power station, refinery, chemical plant or paper mill.
  • Competent in the use of hands and machine tools and electrical testing equipment
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal and confident computer skills
  • You will have a "hands on" approach, and the ability to see a job through to completion
