The Authority is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic officer to work within the Traffic Management and Road Safety team, assisting the team in achieving national and local objectives in reducing road casualties by co-ordinating the delivery of road safety education, training, publicity and managing the School Crossing service throughout the County Borough.

Coordinate with the other Traffic Management Officers in addressing the written and verbal highway / road safety concerns raised across the borough and carrying out respective site visits, to schools and other highway locations and in turn produce comprehensive evidence based reports on such matters to the Public, Schools, Councillors and Welsh Government


To assist Traffic Management Officers and other internal staff, including planning officers on matters related to road safety and related issues.


Principle activities include, but not restricted to the day-to-day management of the School Crossing Patrol and Kerbcraft service, including recruitment, administration, dealing with queries and complaints.


The applicant will require a flexible approach to accommodate the respective working hours and locations, that the staff operate and the need to visit these locations at the relevant times.

To undertake safety audits and risk assessments outside schools and on walking routes to school.

Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.

A valid driving licence is requirement for this post.

The council's Hybrid Working Policy applies to this post. This provides a framework for establishing how you will undertake working hours between your home and the office.

A Health Surveillance assessment through our Occupational Health Service is a requirement for this post.
