This B7 Lead Specialist Healthcare Science Practitioners post will contribute to the leadership and advanced technical expertise within the service, dependent on skill set and group need.

In this role, the post holder must be willing to progress their knowledge, experience and skills as required to meet the level of the role and evolving team needs, through continued professional development.

Work with other Lead Specialist Healthcare Science Practitioners and service leads in the team to manage and ensure the quality of the groups technical services, including equipment testing and the radiation safety service, in line with legislative requirements and national guidelines.

Line manage a number of Healthcare Science Practitioners in the team.

If the group move towards allocating teams of Practitioners to large customers or regions, lead such a team.

Lead various group processes and be responsible (with available senior manager support as necessary) for delivery of those workstreams e.g.

the Practitioner training schemes including apprentices, Health & Safety, Practitioner recruitment, Quality Management System, contracts/charging dependent on group need. The post holder will not take on all these roles but will take a share of them.

Some examples are indicated below stating contribute to or potentially lead. Undertake service development appropriate to role and support senior managers in rolling out changes.

Support service planning/delivery and take the initiative to temporarily step in to fill operational gaps while seeking longer term solutions to ensure continuity of our services.

Contribute to routine survey booking, work allocation and survey duty manager cover (non-routine survey booking) as necessary e.g.

to cover absence of our team scheduler. Take a share of duty management day to day (8am start time, on a rota e.g. 1 week in 3).

To assess the safety and performance of X-ray imaging equipment, provide technical support, radiation protection and patient dosimetry advice to users of ionising radiations, in order to optimise the use of X-rays in diagnostic imaging and comply with regulatory requirements.

Activities fall within the framework provided by a Medical Physics Expert or Radiation Protection Adviser.

Be highly specialist in our field with a particular in depth experience of at least one modality, including clinical understanding, and a specialist level of knowledge and experience in multiple modalities in our field.
