About theSpecialist Support Worker
role:


As our
Specialist Support Worker, you will join our supported housing scheme in Southend for people who have experienced entrenched homelessness and have complex support needs.

We provide a service that is underpinned by Housing First principles.


What we're looking for in ourSpecialist Support Worker:

  • Experience working with people who are homeless and have complex needs, including substance misuse issues and often have traumatic histories and challenging behaviours
  • You will have a passion for supporting people to sustain their tenancy and lead a fulfilling life
  • Excellent communication skills and are able to form and maintain effective working relationships with our customers, funders, housing providers, drug and alcohol teams and other specialist agencies who are providing a service to rough sleepers
  • The ability to work well within a team and manage your own caseload with supervision

What you can expect to be doing as ourSpecialist Support Worker:

  • Providing intensive housing support to previously homeless customers and those most at risk of becoming homeless to help maintain their tenancies and move on to further independent living
  • Moving Customers from temporary accommodation to their own flats
  • Working with customers in their own homes you will ensure that all aspects of tenancy sustainment are in place, for example housing benefits
  • Attending all relevant meetings as directed by the line manager and to work in partnership with relevant agencies and support specialists to achieve the best possible outcome for our customers
  • Working with a person centred approach you will ensure all risk assessments and recovery plans for your customers are in place and reviewed within timescale
  • This role will require an Enhanced DBS check, a driver's licence and access to a vehicle._
