An established business who have a portfolio of companies under their umbrella and who are leaders in their field are currently looking to strengthen their finance team by the recruitment of a Stock/Management Accountant to support the Group Finance Director
The key requirement for this accountant will be to review and analyse financial transactions within the company's General Ledger, contributing towards the preparation of monthly management accounts, annual statutory accounts, VAT and other statutory returns.
It is a varied role and as such the job holder will have the opportunity to support and lead various ad hoc activities and projects, including working closely with stakeholders outside of the Finance team.
Day to day duties include:
- Ensuring VAT is accounted and provided for correctly, that VAT returns are prepared correctly and submitted on time, and that VAT is paid to or received from HMRC on time
- Overall responsibility for all stock valuation at the Midsomer Norton site and other divisions across the group
- Ensuring year end stock takes are performed across the group and collating the results. Liaising with the auditors over the stock take attendance
- Management and control of advanced billing including raising invoices, updating stock, reconciliation of the advance bill account to customer owned finished goods
- To support users with preparing capital expenditure requests
- Preparation of monthly P&L accounts for multiple divisions of the company, including commentaries to senior management
- Preparation of gross margin reports for multiple divisions of the company
- Preparation of sales rebate calculations and ensuring these are correctly reflected in the general ledger
- Preparation of assigned balance sheet control account reconciliations and follow up of any emergent issues
- Customs declaration on imports
- Support the statutory year end audit where applicable to ensure the audit timetable is achieved
The Person:
- A degree of technical accounting knowledge commensurate with a qualified accountant or part qualified accountant with at least 5 years experience
- Experience with excel including macros, lookup and pivot tables
- Able to conduct investigations and present information clearly and accurately
- Able to interact effectively with other departments to ensure the integrity of financial data
- Good time management skills to consistently meet accounting timetables
