Main Accountabilities

  • Coach a Foundation Phase team in training and all competitive and friendly games once they've commenced.
  • To plan, create and evaluate coaching sessions as scheduled in the weekly plan.
  • To plan and deliver training sessions that prioritise individual player development.
  • Ensure the Performance Management Application (PMA) is completed and up to date.
  • Provide feedback to players formally through the Performance Management Application (PMA), individual meetings, 6week and 12week reviews (players and parents).
  • Form positive relationships with players and motivate them towards achieving their potential, ensuring their wellbeing and holistic development.
  • Create positive working relationships with parents and lead on parent relationships for a Foundation Phase team.
  • In collaboration with the Recruitment team, facilitate players with the highest potential into our training groups, to be coached and monitored (incl. but not limited to trials, player/parent feedback, retain release processes, onboarding, etc.) and provide reports and assessments to the Recruitment team.
  • To attend the relevant Football Association/Premier League/Football League and BFC CPD events.
  • Help to ensure the Academy is continually achieving the standards required to retain its category status within the EPPP guidelines.
  • Possible significant travel for domestic and international tours and games programme.
  • Any other relevant tasks and duties as directed by senior Academy or Football Department management.

Potential Areas of Further Growth

  • In conjunction with Academy Senior Management, create a multisport development programme for players in the Foundation Phase.
  • Lead a Foundation Phase Multi-Disciplinary Team composing various critical departments to create a holistic development plan for each individual player.
  • Attend all relevant coaching and style of play meetings, contribute to the club style of play and ensure that club principles and training is consistent from first team to Academy.
  • Align Foundation Phase coaches and the coaching programme within the Club's coaching philosophy and style of play framework, keeping detailed records of training sessions.
  • Oversee the phase planning and collaborate with Phase staff surrounding training support, team selections, player IDPs, Player reviews and coaching best practices.
  • Monitor and evaluate all players in the Foundation Phase for succession planning process.

General Club Accountabilities

  • To comply with all Club policies, including health and safety, data regulations and other legal, ethical, and social requirements.
  • To build and maintain good working relationships while maintaining a professional image.
  • To keep confidential any information gained regarding the Club and its personnel.
  • To always maintain a flexible approach to work, including attending Club functions and media obligations from time to time.
