WORKING PATTERN:

Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.


ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
Join our team within Data & Machine Learning (D&ML) and be a key member in optimising our cloud finances

As a FinOps Assistant, you'll be coordinating and providing oversight of Public Cloud finances for the Analytics Platform. You'll detect key areas of waste, optimisation, etc. and advise the consumer teams on best approach and ensure they have visibility of their cloud usage.


Successful FinOps is based on strong collaboration, and in this role, you'll establish positive relationships with the consumer teams, Group Finance and the central Cloud Services FinOps team, to drive optimal results.


Responsibilities:


  • Maintaining training and guidance to drive an increase in consumers' ability to forecast their cloud spend and ensuring consuming teams provide forecasts in a timely and complete manner
  • Providing highquality reports for key colleagues to inform budget decisions
  • Creating and maintaining dashboards to allow consuming teams to manage their cloud spending
  • Managing and monitoring the consistent use of labelling / tagging to support cloud cost allocation and ensuring sufficient monitoring and alerting is in place to quickly stop unintended spend
  • Supporting the management of an ongoing recharge model that ensures cloud costs are accounted for and allocated in line with the Group's cost accounting policies
  • Working closely with the platform support teams, maintain a backlog of optimisation opportunities

WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Essential

To be considered for this position, you'll need to demonstrate the below as a minimum:

  • Hands-on experience of Cloud (GCP) reporting
  • Working knowledge of cost visualisation tools (e.g. Cloudability) and Google Cloud Pricing Calculator (GCP Calculator)
  • Experience providing high-quality, exec-level Cloud pricing and cost reports
  • Previous experience with cloud costing models, forecasting etc. and of working within a consumption-based cloud platforms environment
  • Ability to create and manage interactive Cloud dashboards and experience with reservation management and cloud FinOps tooling
And any experience of these would be really useful- A formal financial certification / qualification such as FinOps Certified Practitioner- Experience of cross charging internal businesses
