The Economy Team are excited to be recruiting for a position to support 'Opportunity North Somerset', focusing on refugees and resettled residents.

About the role


Delivered in-house by the Economy Team, you will work with partner providers across the region to provide an independent triage and sign-posting service to help residents navigate to the best employment and skills support for their needs.


In addition to working with residents to support their employment goals and aspirations, you will be required to engage local businesses and employers, identifying opportunities which will support the integration of resettled residents into the workforce.


This is a fixed term contract for 12 months and would

be available as a secondment opportunity to North Somerset Council Staff. If you would like to take this up as a secondment, please ensure you have the permission of your line manager before applying.


You will work under the supervision of the Employment and Skills Manager as part of a small but very supportive team of experienced and knowledgeable staff.


This role has been classified as a Mobile worker, meaning that although your office base will be the Town Hall in Weston-super-Mare, you will spend mínimal time in the office - coming in mainly for meetings with colleagues, team touchpoints and / or focus working.


About you


Strong interpersonal skills will be essential as you will be the first point of contact for the project participants and partner providers across the region.

A creative and collaborative problem-solving approach will be beneficial, as you will be responsible for coordinating the referral process and monitoring and reporting on outcomes.

You will also be able to demonstrate;

  • Experience of working in multiagency settings and/or liaising with external organisations,
  • Significant practical experience of working with service user groups giving rise to a variety of technical skills and sound understanding of the services available, work practices and processes relevant to the role,
  • An Advice, Information, and Guidance (AIG) qualification or be able to demonstrate significant experience of providing AIG support,
  • The ability to manage own work without close supervision to meet challenging deadlines.
