Essential Qualities / Skills -
Ability to empathise with and understand the many challenges faced by young adults in a demographic with high free school meals rate and poverty levels, many of whom struggled to succeed at school

  • Ability to inspire these learners by developing lessons that can relate to and build on their musical preferences, which lean towards grime, R&B but also those into rock, punk and other.
  • Experience of using music production technology to facilitate music creation with learners
  • Experience of working professionally in music production team
  • Extremely organised and able to manage own workload effectively and flexibly
  • Highly motivated and driven to succeed in a competitive and rewarding environment
  • Outstanding teaching and communication skills and experience of good / outstanding Ofsted
  • Positive, solution focused and proactive when managing and responding to data
  • Assertive and selfconfident in management of the learning environment
  • Committed and willing to "go the extra mile" to meet targets
  • Ambitious will not settle for less than outstanding standards of work and behaviour

Desirable Qualities / Skills -

  • Experience of working in the creative industries using an entrepreneurial approach
  • It would also be useful, but not essential to have experience of working with young people or in the industry on songwriting and performance

Salary and days of work
-
3.8 hours per day (of which 2.7 hours are teaching time) for
0.5 days per week for
30 weeks per year.

Fixed-Term contract until
July
2024.

  • Salary of
    pro rata £33,000 for qualified teachers (actual salary £3,509).
  • Salary of
    pro rata £28,000 for unqualified teachers (actual salary £3,031).
  • Start date
    ASAP.

This job is based in London and cannot be done remotely.

We welcome industry professional applicants who wish enter teaching via the full teaching qualification funded by the Taking Teaching Further scheme.

This allows 6 months of reduced timetable for training whilst receiving full pay and cover.
