My client in
Cambridge is looking for an experienced
Band 6 Histology Biomedical Scientist for a locum contract.

Job Role:

37.5 h/week
Between 7am7pm
Performs a wide range of routine healthcare science activities, whilst supporting junior members of staff including specimen receipt, specimen preparation including assisting pathologists at cutup, embedding and microtomy of surgical tissue, slide collation,specimen storage and maintenance of equipment
Demonstrate duties to new or less experienced employees.
To work flexibly in reflection of service needs this may include an extended working day and/or participation in delivery of a 24 hour, 7 days per week service.
The work of the service brings staff into constant contact with human body fluids, tissues and hazardous chemicals. This may include urine, faeces, and respiratory secretions.
Participation in specialist areas of the laboratory.
Acts as mentor for more junior scientific and support staff.
Supervises and/or trains less experienced staff in own area of work

Qualifications and Experience required:

HCPC registered as a BMS:

Practical experience of working as a Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Histopathology
Experience in cryotomy, embedding, microtomy and specimen category A transfer
Experience of working unsupervised under one's own initiative in provision of an out of hours Histopathology service.
