An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Company Secretariat department in Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust.


The Head of Corporate Governance will support the Company Secretariat in delivering the highest standards of corporate governance in the Trust, ensuring compliance with the regulatory framework, Trust licence, relevant legislation and Trust Constitution.


The Head of Corporate Governance will deputise for the Director of Corporate Affairs as and when required, providing sound advice to the Board of Directors and Council of Governors.


To thrive in this opportunity, it is essential that you are an experienced governance professional with a sound understanding of NHS Foundation Trusts.

It is important that you are a strong communicator, with excellent report writing and minute taking ability and that you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.


The role will ensure governance policies, protocols and documentation remain up to date and in line with legislation, including the preparation of the Annual Report for submission to regulators and parliament.


It will also be responsible for ensuring that effective processes are in place for the Council of Governors in order for it to fulfil its duties effectively and engage with the Trust membership.


The role will provide administrative support for the Audit Committee, and be responsible for some of the governance areas accountable to the Audit Committee such as Freedom of Information and Gifts, Hospitality and Conflicts of Interest.


Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is now one of the largest in the country, with a workforce of approximately 15,000 who serve a population of 1.2 million people.
