Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Line Manager in overseeing procurement and stock control processes, to also involve imported products form the Middle/Far East Asia, working within agreed timelines and specs.
- Responsible for shipping, payment management and decision making on orders and evaluating supplier bids.
- Establish the perfect goods, equipment and services that need to be sourced.
- Develop company supply chain strategy and maintain this.
- Negotiate with suppliers prices, contracts, quantities, deals and delivery schedules, and prepare contract documents in accordance.
- Deal with suppliers in an upfront, honest and mutually beneficial manner, developing strong relationships.
- Organise incoming goods quality checks ensuring suppliers delivery on time.
- Keep up to date and ahead of market and customer trends, identify new products, suppliers and supply chain/manufacturing processes.
- Attend trade fairs and conduct interviews with supplier reps.
- Ensure legislation adherence with regard to tendering and procurement procedures are up to date.
- Actively provide orientation, guidance and training support to marketing, sales and logistics on any new trends/products.
- Forecast price trends and maintain forward pricing for allocated categories.
- Be supportive to and communicate with sales on current and new product development information.
- Manage warehouse storage levels and forecasts, liaising with third party factories on adequate stock levels and ontime direct deliveries.
- Collect and analyse data to assist in predicting trends and forecast sales figures.
- Work closely with inventory management ensuring all deliveries fulfil assigned purchase orders, reporting any missed or backordered products.
- Deliver marketing activity and sales data reports to senior management/ stakeholders.
- Keep ahead of competition through research/customer feedback by adapting product offerings.
- Liaise and work closely with Sales dept, and Procurement and Production Managers.
- Uphold company values and principles.
Skills and Experience
- Experience in a buyer role, preferably in the packaging industry/FMCG/packaging manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of packaging manufacturing requirements, internal suppliers and contacts in disposable and food packaging sector.
- Graduate in Business Administration or Commerce.
- CPPM or CPP accreditation.
- Certified CISCP or CISM.
- Good knowledge and understanding of purchasing principles and disciplines.
- Excellent financial and numerical skills.
- Proficient in computer literacy.
- Excellent communication and written skills.
- Assertive, approachable and excellent at building and maintaining strong relationships.
- Customer focussed with excellent presentation skills.
- Analytical and process minded.
- Ability to deliver commercially driven negotiations.
- Strong work ethic.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Excellent time management.
- Willingness to travel within the UK/EU/Globally as and when required.
Remuneration
You will receive a salary of £35k-£40k DOE and annual bonus.
