Salary:_COMPETITIVE_**We have an exciting opportunity to join the Technical team as Raw Materials Coordinator at our Hamilton site as part of 'Finsbury Food Group'.

Lightbody is the UK's largest supplier of celebration cakes to UK retailers, with Disney, Mars, Universal and Thorntons all within the portfolio of branded cakes made under licence.

You will have strong communication skills and be effective at building relationships. You should have excellent computer skills and would ideally have experience working within the food industry.


This is what you'll actually do


In this fast moving, busy and varied role, you will be a vital part of the Technical team reporting to the Head of Technical and responsible for managing the site's raw material specifications; ensuring full supplier assurance requirements are met and that information provided is reviewed to confirm compliance to Finsbury Foods expectations.

Managing issues with incoming raw materials to ensure they comply with specification and are suitable for use.


Day to day you will be responsible for ensuring that all supplier assurance information for all raw materials received at site is available in QADEX and that these are reviewed to ensure that they are suitable for use, meeting the required food safety, legality and quality parameters.


In the role you will provide traceability information during traceability exercises, withdrawals, recalls for raw materials of the product/issue involved.

You will traceability systems are in place for all raw materials delivered to site.

You will ensure that all raw materials are Valid IT approved as needed and manage the Allergen Control Matrix, working closely with NPD and Process teams to approved new/modified raw materials.

You will manage the matching/comparison of raw materials working with purchasing teams to ensure alternative raw materials and supply are in place and on customer specifications.

Part of the role will include risk assessing our suppliers and monitoring their performance on an ongoing basis.

You will be communicating with our suppliers on a regular basis to discuss any issues and follow up on corrective actions.

Along with assisting with customer and 3rd party audits.


In this role you will manage the Goods In QA systems, including ensuring all raw materials received meet specification and that all COAs and COCs are reviewed to confirm conformity.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the Goods In QA system has safeguards in place to prevent raw materials requiring technical approval prior to issue being released to production prior to approval being granted.

You will manage the rejection of out of specification raw materials with stores, production, purchasing and the supplier whilst maintaining a hold register.

You will document, implement and maintain procedures relating to raw materials and supplier assurance, developing and implementing a Raw Material Life Extension protocol.


Ideally this is you

  • Previous experience of working in a fastpaced manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of relative legislative criteria and industry standards for food production is also desirable
