PRODUCTION PLANNING COORDINATOR JOB DESCRIPTION

Kennelbuild Overview
Kennelbuild is a project based, specialist manufacturing and construction business.

We have our own in-house design team, along with manufacturing, building and installation capabilities producing cutting edge kennel buildings and systems.

Our client base includes The Ministry of Defence, Merseyside Police, Morgan Sindall, RSPCA, Blue Cross and other leading animal rescue charities and high-end dog boarding facilities.


Principal Responsibilities


We are looking to recruit an experienced Production planning coordinator, who has experience working within sheet metal/fabrication/engineering sector and who is competent in administering a Material Requirements Planning (MRP)software system.

The role will involve creating new BOM's (Bill of Materials), creating new works orders, purchase orders and scheduling/planning the production of our Kennel components through both our in-house workshop and partner suppliers.


Key Responsibilities include:

  • Creating manufacturing Works Orders for projects in Sage Manufacturing
  • Converting estimates to orders
  • Creating new product codes and producing nesting programmes for our flatbed CNC router.
  • Creating new BOM's in Sage Manufacturing
  • Liaising with the drawing office regarding Kennel Build system schedules, manufacturing drawings and Construction Drawings
  • Planning and managing the production schedules in consultation with our workshop operatives and external suppliers.
  • Maintaining supplier details and ensuring that all component prices are up to date and accurate.
  • Maintaining Sage Accounts and Manufacturing data good system housekeeping
  • Transferring Sage data to our Project Estimating software.
  • Raising purchase orders, works orders and Oneoff works orders from MRP recommendations.


  • Works order processing

  • Issuing batch works orders and Oneoff works order to the factory
  • Purchase order processing raising, placing and completing purchase orders.
  • Monitoring supplier performance and quality, developing a responsive supplier base, and maintaining good supplier relations.
  • Stock level control ensure all stock levels are kept up to date and accurate.
  • Recording actual operation times in Sage manufacturing and Sage Accounts. Information is captured by daily and weekly time sheets.
  • Managing the workshop operatives work load.
  • Agreeing quality standards and ensuring that standards are achieved.
  • Organising the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment

Qualifications and Training

  • Highly proficient in utilising a Manufacturing Resource planning system, with a minimum of 2 years' experience of production planning in a sheet metal/fabrication/engineering environment.

Essential Skills and experience:


  • A minimum of 2 years manufacturing planning experience.
  • Expert level usage of an MRP system. Training will be provided on the Kennel Build MRP system.
  • Attention to detail and a methodical approach to work is critical in this role.
  • Experience of viewing and interpreting detailed manufacturing drawings.
  • Experience of liaising with a drawing office and production operatives.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills. Ability to communicate confidently and effectively with staff at all levels.
  • Strong Numeracy skills
  • Problemsolving skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.

Up to £35,000 p.a. depending upon experience
