Job description:

We are looking for an expert creative and experienced leader to help us communicate the work of an exciting new department to our audiences in engaging and innovative ways.

You will have years of public or private sector experience working in videography, graphic design, illustration, animation and brand management - primarily for social media.

To complement your practical experience, you will also have strong creative vision and confident leadership skills with experience of managing a team.

As part of our team, you will develop content about some of the most exciting work in government, from cutting edge AI and quantum computing, to bold new scientific discoveries, and the latest developments in the UK space sector.

All of which contribute to building the UK economy, creating high-skilled high-paid jobs, and improving people's lives through science and technology.

You will have a strong understanding of brand development, you will keep across trends and the changing way social media platforms treat different types of content, and you will have an instinct for innovation and risk-taking that helps us stop people from scrolling past our messages.

You will lead on quality assuring our digital creative content development, have experience in overseeing the delivery of design work, ensuring it is channel appropriate, has the end users in mind, and meet our strategic priorities.

In this role, you will be a key player in influencing senior colleagues on best use of digital content, so we are looking for an expert practitioner: someone who is a strong leader, excellent people person, hands-on but also strategic, and focused on the delivery of quality outputs.

You will be expected to be multi-skilled, able to take on a range of projects at the same time, often with demanding deadlines.

You will report to the Head of Digital Communications, and lead a team of five talented content producers who are experts in videography, photography, graphic design, illustration and animation.
