We are seeking to recruit a first-class Music Administrator, who is willing to build upon their existing experience to support the work of the Director of Music at The Blue Coat School.


Music plays a vital role in the day to day life at the Blue Coat School, and there are excellent facilities on site.

Children in all year groups (Nursery to Y6) participate in regular curriculum music lessons as well as choirs, orchestras and chamber ensembles.

Many children have weekly individual lessons in a full range of string, wind and percussion instruments as well as singing and music theory.

The role involves assisting the Director of Music and other staff with all matters relating to the administration of the Music department, and liaising as necessary with parents and staff throughout the school; including timetabling individual lessons, administering the music examination entries and assisting in the arrangements for school concerts and recitals.


Salary is £11,360 - £12,780 (FTE £16,000 - £18,000 pro rata for a term time only position) depending on experience.

Qualifications/Professional Development

  • Music graduate from a reputable university or Conservatoire
  • Sound background knowledge of Music and the Arts
  • Performing experience

  • Experience of working within a school environment is desirable

  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and manage tasks
  • Ability to complete administrative tasks accurately and to deliver to a strict deadline
