Coffee Afrik CIC is a dynamic and community-driven organization committed to fostering the growth and development of young individuals. We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Youth Worker to join our passionate team and make a positive impact on the lives of the youth we serve. This position will be responsible for assisting in the supervision of youth, providing support and guidance, and assisting with the development of a positive relationship with the client and community. The Youth Worker will also assist in the implementation of positive community programs, including summer camps, tutoring, and after-school activities.

Duties:


  • Assist in the implementation of positive community programs.
  • Develop and implement engaging and educational programs that promote the social, emotional, and personal development of young people.
  • Build strong relationships with youth by actively listening, providing guidance, and offering a safe and supportive environment.
  • Conduct individual and group counselling sessions to address the unique needs and challenges of each young person.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, guardians, and external agencies to ensure comprehensive support for the youth's wellbeing.
  • Organize and supervise recreational activities, workshops, and events that align with our mission and objectives.
  • Assist in identifying and addressing potential behavioural, emotional, or mental health concerns among youth.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of interactions, assessments, and progress reports.

Skills:


  • Served 1 year in Youth Work and working towards a Youth Working Qualification if not already gained.
  • Demonstrated experience working with young people in a similar capacity.
  • Strong understanding of child and adolescent development theories and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to connect with youth from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and challenging situations with empathy and professionalism.
  • Knowledge of local community resources and services beneficial to youth.
  • Adherence to ethical standards and child protection policies.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
