About The Role*:

Gordon Murray Automotive is a UK-based global luxury brand dedicated to creating and manufacturing the world's greatest driving cars. These ultra-exclusive cars are engineered and designed without compromise to provide unrivalled driving experiences and driver-centric connection.


With multiple sites in Shalford, Dunsfold, Warwick and a new purpose-built HQ on its way in Windlesham, the Gordon Murray Group continues to grow with multiple vehicle programmes currently in development.

As a result, we currently have exciting opportunities for a Buyer Body Systems and Buyer Electrical to join our purchasing team based in Shalford


Responsibilities:


  • Source and procure components/services.
  • Assist in further development of existing suppliers.
  • Assess potential suppliers both technically and commercially.
  • Be a role model for Buyers/Graduate Buyers.
  • Assist with proposal costings, as required.
  • Ensure all activities undertaken are in line with current policies and procedures.
  • Assist in day to day running of the Purchasing Department and all activities associated with it.
  • Source and procure components/services.
  • Liaise with internal Customers to ensure Service Satisfaction and work on commercial aspects relevant to their requirements.
  • Undertake costdown activities as directed by the Purchasing and Commodity Manager
  • Assess existing suppliers with the aim to reduce supplier base, unit costs and complexity.
  • Assess prospective suppliers to reduce costs and establish better standards of quality, service provision and operational flexibility.
  • Place and process purchase orders on behalf of Gordon Murray Group.
  • Other duties associated with department as directed.

Experience and Qualifications:


  • Certificate of Higher Education in Engineering/Business Studies or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in Automotive purchasing and procurement is desirable.
  • Purchasing in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing technologies.
  • Proven experience in negotiating.
  • Experience in manufacturing of fastmoving consumer goods and general engineering.
  • Clear and effective communication skills with internal and external clients.
  • Good understanding of supply chain procedures.
  • Proficiency in cross functional, cross company, and crosssectional processes.
  • Works well under pressure and has a passion for delivering objectives.


  • Computer literate

  • Microsoft office suite and previous experience with an ERP system would bebeneficial.
  • Resourceful attitude with flexible and proactive approach.
  • Proven track record for project management.
