Active Learning Centres - Cuffley ALC
Chief Instructor
One Year Fixed Term commencing February 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter. Possibility to become permanent after one year.
40 hours per week (5 days out of 7)
Predominantly Monday-Friday with occasional weekend work.
£24,500 Per Annum (annualised hours).

Outline Role Description
You will be responsible for leading and motivating the entire Activity department and ensuring they strive for the highest standards at our specialist outdoor learning centre Cuffley.
Key Aspects of the role will include
To act as the lead practitioner, with responsibility for the training, monitoring, and performance management of a team of multi-activity instructors
Planning, scheduling, and coordination of multiple simultaneous client school multi
- activity programmes and ensure that these are being delivered safely and to a high standard.
Direct Line management of the Senior Instructor and Outdoor Instructor cohort, Including completing observations, appraisals and CPD's.
Regularly Reviewing Session plans, SOP's, and Risk assessments for the Activity department.
Audits of Activity delivery and completing action plans to follow.
Be a point of contact for first aid incidents (within their remit) on site.
Ensuring First Aid kits are compliant, refilled and that new stock is purchased in a timely manner.
Work with the catering team to ensure Mealtimes are set and followed
Liaise with external suppliers to carry out safety checks and updates of equipment.
To drive the development of new and innovative activities that enhance the experience for our clients
Completing rota duties for your department
Rotational Senior Night Duties (carrying out of hours phone, responding to night-time incidents)
Completion of daily operational administrative duties (Daily Huddle, weekly SLT meetings, report writing.
Chief Instructor Person Spec
Essential
Experience gained within a similar role.
Minimum 5 years working in outdoor education environment
A high level of interpersonal skills and team values.
Proven ability to manage a complex workload while retaining focus on the core role of producing itineraries that excite, educate, and engage visiting school students and teachers.
Be highly organised with an excellent attention to detail
Adaptive leadership style and considering innovative approaches and solutions
Full driving licence.
Hold Relevant NGB qaulifications
