The Design Engineer role


As part of the McAlpine Lifting Solutions team you'll undertake designs related to tower cranes and hoists, in particular: the design of crane bases and ties in structural steel, along with mobile crane planning.

This process continues through to the successfuldelivery of mechanical handling solutions on the project.


The department may be working for up to 20 projects in a month: all with very short periods for deliverables.

Your profile
You will;
- have knowledge of the following software programmes; AutoCAD, Master Series, ROBOT & REVIT and TEKLA would be desirable.

  • The ability to undertake lift plans would be desirable, but not essential. All necessary training will be given, understanding of general and in particular temporary works design would also be preferred
  • A driving license (desirable)
