Temporary Planning Officer - Housing and Planning

Pay rate:
£13.41 per hour PAYE


Hybrid role

Full driving licence with access to a vehicle for work purposes/site visits

  • Prepare committee reports, attend and present at Committee on occasion and attend Committee site visits.
  • Prepare appeal statements, attend and represent the Council at appeal site visits, and at hearings.
  • Advise enforcement staff on potential breaches of control consider and recommend appropriate courses of action.
  • Respond to enquiries and attend meetings to give advice on planning matters.
  • Liaise with other sections and officers within the Council and the Council's external partners and consultees to ensure quality recommendations that best reflect common goals and community aspirations in line with the development plan policies and government guidance.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the service.
  • Maintain effective computer and other records and systems to enable the proper functioning of the service.

Qualifications:


  • Relevant degree.
  • Membership of RTPI or eligible for membership desirable.

Experience & Knowledge:


  • Knowledge and understanding of planning legislation and procedures.
  • Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.

Skills:


  • Report writing skills.
  • Presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal effectively with difficult customers.
  • A clear, logical and analytical thinker.
  • Well organised, efficient and self motivated.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to high standards of customer care.
  • Full driving licence with access to a vehicle for work purposes.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings to attend Council meetings.
  • Strong IT skills using Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
