Description

We are one of Europe's leading independent manufacturers of high-quality automotive products and we are looking for an accomplished Buyer to join our expanding team.

You will be working in a team of four, reporting directly to the Purchasing Manager and you will be responsible for delivering our commercial purchasing function.


Overview - The Purchasing department play a crucial role in ensuring that materials and components are ordered and delivered on time. The primary focus of this role is to deliver our purchasing strategy, ensuring the sufficiency, quality, and value for money. Additionally, the role involves building strong relationships with both existing and new suppliers.

We will be looking for the Buyer to:

  • Proactively analyse stock levels against patterns of use to ensure orders are placed in good time to ensure continuity of production.
  • Accurately prepare and raise purchase orders and create and adhere to order schedules.
  • Manage overdue orders and supplier invoice issues, working to resolve them within agreed timescales.
  • Contribute to contract and SLA negotiations.
  • Improve prices and terms of business with suppliers.
  • Build, maintain and manage good supplier and stakeholder relationships.
  • Undertake research and explore alternative sources for products, services, and equipment.
  • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, including conducting supplier site audits.
  • Ensure that all systems are fully and accurately updated as required.

Person Requirements - Ideally you will be an assertive and confident purchasing professional with a strong commitment to continuous improvement and quality management, seeking the next step in your career with a market leading business


You will also be:

  • A qualified (by education or experience) buyer.
  • Highly organised with a high level of attention to detail, able to successfully manage multiple workstreams at the same time.
  • A strong negotiator with experience of contract negotiation and management.
  • An excellent communicator, with experience of working with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient with MS Excel, particularly data analysis functions such as VLOOKUP and the creation and manipulation of pivot tables.
  • A confident problem solver and multitasker.
  • Experienced working in a timecritical manufacturing or engineering environment, preferably.
  • Occasional travel to the Far East, America and across Europe may be required.

TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT:
In-house training will be given in all aspects of our products, manufacturing, current suppliers, and contracts.


It is highly likely you will have worked in any of the following roles and/or markets and worked with the following products and/or services: Automotive Aftermarket, Automotive, Procurement, Buying, Buyer.


Job Types:
Full-time, Permanent


Pay:
Up to £35,000.00 per year


Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
