This role is designated as Hybrid but with a bias towards being On-site.


SUMMARY
Team lead for Systems Engineering & A/C Integration.

this Team is based in multiple locations (UK, PB and USA) and encompasses the following functions:


  • HoV Definition & requirements
  • A/C integration & DMU (including UEA Lead role for A350 Project)
  • Systems Engineering
This includes Functional leadership of direct and indirect reports

  • 4 Direct reports in Leighton buzzard
  • 812 Indirect in other locations
It is anticipated that this role will be engaged in both direct project activity and indirect leadership activity.

Reports to Engineering manager - Systems & Integration


FUNCTIONAL ROLE & RESPONSIBILITY

General Responsibilities:


  • Leadership and support for the Systems Engineering team comprising of the A/C integration and Definition functions. Including Individual Development & performance.
  • Maintain and develop technical capability including signatories within the team
  • Ownership of A/C integration (DMU) and systems engineering processes and work instructions.
  • Ownership of FPY and OTD metrics for respective functions
  • Leading of continuous improvement projects with respect to owned processes both internal and in collaboration with AIB
  • Lead interface with Customers on DMU & definition issues
  • AIB UEA lead for the A350 Galleys project, this will include being the Focal for any AIB tool issues including TrEND.
  • Technical, People and Management Training, associated Career Development and Succession Planning.
  • Ownership of engaging and maintaining any subcontractors or suppliers for the functions identified.

Planning & Project Management:


  • Support the planning of work & deliverables as well as the resource management processes with respect to the functions identified above across all IPT's, including Development etc.
  • Escalation point for Issues with respect to the functions above & responsible for leading the resolution.
  • Support the Maintenance of DMU planning and status tools.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Personal Attributes:


  • Excellent communicator with the ability to build trust with customers.
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to plan a variety of tasks through understanding the appropriate level of detail, and then Use the team as appropriate to Execute.
  • Demonstrated ability as a people leader
  • Proven track record of riskbased decision making.

Skills and Experience:


  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience
  • Advanced understanding of MS Office / Office 365, in particular the use of Excel.
  • An understanding of mechanical/ aerospace engineering principles
  • An Understanding of Product Design within an Aerospace environment including aspects such as structured Design Reviews, Certification, Requirements and Configuration Management etc.
  • Experience with 3D CAD packages, Catia V5 preferred.
  • Experience in the design of Products used in Aircraft Interiors is desirable
  • Experience with AIB DMU process is desirable
