MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:


The role will require engagement of the individual not only within Dry Docking projects, but any Capital project initiated to improve the vessels condition - life expectancy.

To be fully aware of and in compliance with the company IMS policies and procedures.


To technically manage assigned vessels within the budget set for each vessel, and to proactively inform the Line Managers of any potential adverse impact to budget and time line.


KEY WORK AREAS RESPONSIBLE FOR:


  • All processes relating to Dry Docking and New build (as required)
  • Ensuring all shipboard mechanical / electrical machinery and navigational electronics are operated and maintained in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Ensuring all vessel equipment, systems and structures comply with the relevant requirements of SOLAS, IMO, Class & Flag administration regulations and guidelines, including environmental legislation.
  • Specifying, arranging, supervising and reporting on vessel drydock. Dry Dock specifications will be submitted in accordance with the planning principle.
  • Continual monitoring of Cost, project timeline and variations to project baseline is expected from submission of specification to final invoice covering all dry dock tasks.
  • Ensuring VesselMan. Planned Maintenance / Purchasing / Defect Reporting systems are kept fully up to date both on board vessel and in the office. Defect report comments must be updated within one week of Dry Dock / Project job reports must be kept up to date throughout the Dry Dock period.
  • Use of Dry docking and reporting software, including building of technical dry dock Specifications
  • Assistance in new build projects as and when required.
  • Available to travel and work abroad
  • Liaison with procurement Controlling the purchase of dry dock spares and consumables, all within the budget confines. Projected budget overspends must be relayed to Line Manager, before the expense is incurred, not after the event.
  • Managing vessel dry docks to ensure all jobs are completed in a timely manner and a comprehensive report is recorded for each vessel.
  • To ensure that all vessels receive a Dry Dock specification on work to be carried out.
  • To ensure that the Dry Dock runs smoothly and safely, and that all appropriate PTW's, Isolations, Risk Assessments, Method Statements are in accordance with the tasks in hand.
  • Stop The Job must be initiated should any unsafe practices be observed.
  • Liaising with Classification, Port State and Flag State representatives with regards to legislation, scheduled Surveys and oneoff Surveys / attendances.
  • Provide a complete quality report on the work completed during the dry dock period.
  • Providing outofhours service, as and when required.
  • Actively promoting and progressing the company HSEQ Policies.
  • Actively promoting interdepartmental communications.
  • Assist in Emergency Response Team when Required.

COMMUNICATIONS:


  • Daily contact with fellow employees and management of North Star Shipping.
  • Daily communication with management, crews, clients and suppliers both verbal and written.
  • Communications with suppliers and contractors

QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING:


  • Sea Going Chief Engineer, or equivalent, with relevant offshore support experience.
  • Project management experience in dry docks and new builds
Experience in a similar role preferred.
