Health & Safety Officer
Permanent position 35.5hrs per week | Mon-Thur 8.30am to 4.30pm, Fri 8.30am to 2pm


Glas-Seal (NI) Ltd, based at 80 Belfast Road, Ballynahinch, is a glass processor specialising in double glazing units, laminate, toughened glass and CNC work.

Established in 1973, Glas-Seal was the first company in Ireland to be awarded the British Standard Kitemark for sealed doubled glazing units and also holds ISO 9001 accreditation.

Due to our continued success, we are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our successful team:
The successful applicants will have the responsibility for Health & Safety duties.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Management of Health & Safety through handson interaction with all employees to ensure compliance with legislation.
  • Ensure the H&S policy and procedures are being fully implemented Company wide.
  • Assist in the development of H&S plans to promote continual improvement.
  • Audit, analyse and report on H&S performance both internally and to regulatory bodies as required.
  • Review and develop risk assessments and safe systems of work for all processes.
  • Assist in the analysis of training needs to facilitate H&S compliance.
  • Liaise with insurers and external agencies to maintain tight control regarding accident investigation and claims.
  • Establish a visible presence in all departments on a daily basis to ensure satisfactory H&S performance is achieved.
  • Assist in the management of the HR function through the development of employee training, appraisals, recruitment, and retention policies.

Essential Criteria

  • A proven track record in the discipline of H&S management within the manufacturing sector.
  • Possess a NEBOSH certificate as a minimum.
  • Thorough knowledge of H&S legislation.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and persuasion skills.
  • Experience in building a strong H&S culture throughout an organisation.

Desirable (not essential):


  • Membership of IOSH or equivalent.
  • CIPD or equivalent HR qualification.
