Clinical Fellow in Critical Care

These posts are available from August 2024 and are based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with a tenure of 12 months.

Applications are welcome from doctors who have completed the Foundation Programme and are considering a career in anaesthesia/critical care, or those who have completed core training and are looking for something different prior to the next stage of their career.

The post holder will be based in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

There are 5 clinical development fellow posts with an 80:20 split of time between clinical and non-clinical duties (a range of activities can be supported in this non-clinical time - research, QI, teaching/education, simulation, advanced clinical skills) and we also have 2 clinical teaching fellows with a 50:50 split of time between clinical and non-clinical duties (this non-clinical time will be used to support the organisation and delivery of our postgraduate MSc programmes in Critical Care, in coordination with the University of Glasgow).

You will be asked to indicate at interview which of these jobs would be your preference.

Clinical duties will involve the routine and emergency care of level 2 and level 3 patients within the QEUH Critical Care unit.

This will be on a separate rota (with prospective cover) from the two existing rotas staffed by trainees on rotation to the department.

You will work shifts including, nights and weekends.

These posts have not been approved for training purposes by NHS Education for Scotland, however, applicants will have access to the full range of educational opportunities.
