This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about community engagement and volunteer development.
The Informal Volunteering Officer will play a key role in developing the Informal Volunteering pilot project funded by the Social Value Development Fund.
There are eight project partners, with Ponthafren as the project lead.Each of the eight project partners will employ an Informal Volunteer Officer who will work closely with Ponthafren's Volunteer coordinator who will oversee the project.
The Pilot project aims to bring structure to, develop and increase Informal Volunteering.Each Informal Volunteering Officer will be tasked with setting up a bank of Informal Volunteers within their community and then matching them up to local support needs.
Together, we aim to explore how we can mobilise more people to give their time informally and develop different ways of recruiting volunteers.
Main Duties of the role
- Working with our Volunteer Coordinator to join up policies, procedures and delivery of the pilot project.
- Design and facilitation of the local informal volunteering bank.
- Working as a conduit between individuals and volunteers, to 'match' opportunities.
- Delivering training and giving relevant support to volunteers and organisations.
- To conduct informal supervision/check ins with volunteers.
- To develop a bank of informal roles and links to community groups and individuals
- To recruit, train and support volunteers to act as an advocate for the organisation
- To provide monthly progress reports to the Lead Volunteer Coordinator.
- To identify any risks in delivery of the service.
Personal Specification
- Ability to recruit, supervise and support a dispersed team of Volunteers.
- Strong planning and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to connect and engage with a diverse range of audiences.
- Ability to support people whilst maintaining compassion and empathy.
- Ability to communicate effectively and maintain professional relationships with a range of individuals/organisations.
- Ability to deal with sensitive information and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Ability to work under own initiative and able to prioritise work to meet deadlines.
- The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable but not essential.
