Job Role:
Nursery Practitioner


Report To:
Room Leader, Management Team


Hourly Rate:
£9.98


The post is term time only.

The post holder is accountable and responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the role are undertaken and completed fully according to training and best practice.


To provide a high standard of care for the children in the setting, giving support to other staff members and working as part of team to ensure the best standard of practice is maintained at all times.


Main Duties
To ensure all policies, procedures and practices that are in place are followed to comply with Ofsted statutory requirements and demonstrate you understand and are aware of each policy

To maintain and follow all Safeguarding policies and procedures at all times and report any concerns to the manager

To maintain and follow all Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times.

To ensure good standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times.

To develop your role within the team, especially with regards to being a key person


To be fully up to date with the requirements of the statutory framework for the early years foundation stage (EYFS) and ensure that your practice meets and aims to exceed the requirements.

To keep up to date with changes in the curriculum and developments in best practice

Provide an effective learning environment which meets Ofsted requirements, the EYFS and the Birth to five matters framework. This will cover the seven areas of learning and development to stimulate children's learning and development


To ensure paperwork is kept up to date of each child's development and learning and share these with parents and carers via the app and the child's learning journey.

Work in partnership with parents to ensure children's' needs are met.


To provide an inclusive environment to meet the needs of all children, having an awareness of any additional needs or disabilities working alongside the nursery special educational needs coordinator (Senco) and external agencies to ensure the child's needs are supported and family cultures and medical requirements are recognised.

To undertake appropriate continuous professional development by attending supervision, training and meetings as and when required.

To attend all staff meetings

Be willing to be flexible with working hours and show understanding that as part of your job role you have a responsibility to ensure ratios are adhered to at all times

To carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Manager

To ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times with regards to children, families or other staff attending the nursery.

All applicants will be required to complete a DBS (formally an enhanced CRB Disclosure)

£9.98 per hour
