The Bristol Haemophilia Centre provides specialist care to adults and children with heritable bleeding and thrombotic disorders throughout the South West region.

The post holder will be based with the Adult Haemophilia Service, which is located within the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre (BHOC) and comprises of a treatment area, administrative office and factor storage facility.

The Haemophilia Service Coordinator will work within the heart of the busy Haemophilia Centre.

They will be part of the multidisciplinary team and will work closely alongside the Consultants, Clinical Nurse Specialists and the Administrative Team in helping to deliver gold standard care to all patients.

Excellent communication and IT skills are essential for the role. The post holder must be competent in Medway/Careflow and have recent experience of working within a busy NHS department. They will require exceptional prioritisation and time management skills to produce regional reports and finance data within tight timeframes.

High quality organisational skills are also essential for clotting factor stock management and to ensure accurate and robust data systems are in place.

The Haemophilia Service Coordinator will be an integral in organising all aspects of the patient journey both locally and across the region.

This will primarily be for treating the patient in the out-patient setting, but can include arranging care for the patient during a hospital stay or within the community.

Bristol Haemophilia Centre has been designated the principal treatment centre in the South West region of England for benign haematology disorders such as Haemophilia ITP (Immune Thrombocytopenia) and TTP (Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura).

Regional NHS networks require a skilled team to coordinate and deliver care to an excellent standard. Clarity and timeless communication is key to this success.

Additionally it requires focus to ensure there is shared engagement in the development of the service:

these being the standards, the quality and development initiatives, and the collection of data that provides a clear picture of all the activity and outcomes across the network.

The Haemophilia service coordinator will play an important role in the day to day operations of the Haemophilia Centre working closely with the Lead Clinician, Haemophilia Centre Manager, and multidisciplinary team members in developing and establishing links with the other regional hospital sites across the South West (Cheltenham & Gloucester, Bath, Taunton, Exeter, Plymouth and Truro) so that together we can achieve the goal of delivering gold standard care to all patients under our care in the South West.
