ABOUT CATS COLLEGE CAMBRIDGE AND CSVPA

CATS College and CSVPA offers an outstanding international pre-university educational experience to students aged 14+ from all over the world.

CATS students live and work at the custom built Cambridge campus, studying for GCSEs, A levels and University Foundation Programmes, and preparing for admission to universities across the country and elsewhere.

CSVPA students study in buildings in the heart of the City of Cambridge on courses ranges from Pre-Foundation to Masters Levels.

OVERVIEW OF THE JOB

You will need to have a flexible approach to carry out your duties as this is a roaming role supporting the supervision of all CATS & CSVPA boarding houses residing in Montague Lodge overnight when on duty, committed to ensuring the health and wellbeing of our adult students.


REPORTS TO
You will be directly responsible to the Deputy Head of Boarding. You will work within the framework set by and under the general direction of the Principal.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB

  • To be responsible for overseeing student arrivals, induction and departures as and when required.
  • Monitor the students' welfare and behaviour and report any problems in the residences to the Head of Boarding & Head of Welfare.
  • As directed by the Deputy Head of Boarding to conduct routine test emergency evacuations and to provide a follow up report and actions within the Warden controlled houses.
  • To ensure that incidents are recorded on the Colleges database (Shackleton) and escalated for monitoring purposes.
  • To manage discipline in the Residences in line with the College's Disciplinary Procedures, referring more serious disciplinary issues to the Head of Boarding/Deputy Head of Boarding and/or Head of Welfare.
  • To produce daily Handover reports for the Head of Boarding/Deputy Head of Boarding.
  • To maintain a good disciplinary environment for the quiet enjoyment of all students in the Residences, thereby promoting good relations with the local community.
  • Arrange weekly room checks in accordance with the Residence rota.
  • Assist with laundry requirements of the students.
  • To organise and lead regular Residence surgeries with students.
  • Conduct basic maintenance tasks to ensure student comfort and wellbeing.
  • Report ongoing or major maintenance issues through the College system and/or Call Out service.
  • Sort and deliver post to students in the Residence.
  • To assist and provide cover for waking night shift due to illness / holidays.
  • Assist with Summer School as required.
  • Attend Boarding meetings as required.

  • Ability to be proactive, flexible and reliable
  • Confident in both written and spoken English
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook
  • The ability to communicate effectively with students to ensure the smooth running of the residence
  • Good rapport with students and genuine concern for their welfare
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • An understanding of the importance of being supportive to students who are experiencing personal problems or difficulties
  • A demonstrable commitment to upholding the School's equality and diversity commitment.
  • A full, clean UK driving licence
