How we do it:
Create opportunities for all to connect with nature and benefit from its resources.

Facilitate outdoor learning through fun, hands-on, experimental learning workshops.
Encourage active participation in conservation, citizen science and community projects.


Role description:

To facilitate workshops and activities as details provided for each session. In this role you will be representing NatureQuest Academy CIC and help us meet our goals.

You will be expected to help deliver, prepare plan a range of sessions, with guidance/instruction from the Director / Team Leader as appropriate.

Sessions will be a mixture of in-school workshops and outdoor workshops at various venues.

Client groups will include school and community groups.


Main duties:


  • To deliver, prepare and plan a range of sessions, with guidance/instruction from the Director /Team Leader as appropriate.
  • To research and develop new workshop topics.
  • To work in the role both inschool and outdoor settings.
  • To travel where required to undertake the role.
  • To supervise and support clients with varying needs while delivering sessions.
  • To create and maintain an engaging, fun and supportive environment, demonstrating flexibility in planning and running sessions in response to varying/changing needs of children.
  • To create and monitor NatureQuest Academy CIC social media presence.
  • To be aware of and comply with all NatureQuest Academy CIC Policies and Procedures.
  • To participate in training and other learning activities/meetings as required.
  • To administer basic first aid as the need arises.
  • To be aware of safeguarding protocols and observe confidentiality at all times.
  • To travel to and partake in offsite training where required.
  • To undertake all duties reasonably requested by the Director or Team Leader.

Person Specification:
Desirable Skills and qualities


  • To have passion and enthusiasm for working with children, nature and the outdoors.
  • Have a keen interest in outdoors learning and knowledge of the natural environment, conservation, and outdoor learning.
  • To have a positive attitude and open to new ideas, learning, while being flexible in your approach.
  • Experience of working collaboratively and supporting community activities.
  • Proven ability to plan and deliver environmental educationbased activities to a wide age range of children.
  • Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to disseminate information to a variety of audiences.
  • Experience of using word, excel and PowerPoint.
  • A strong team working ethos and ability to work collaboratively with assistants and volunteers.
  • Strong customer focus and be able to demonstrate the importance of service quality.
  • Be able to travel when required.
  • Ability to be flexible and organised.
  • Ability to converse in Welsh language.
  • Ability to drive and have own transport.
  • First aid trained.

Desired qualifications but not essential

  • Forest school leader level 3 or equivalent
  • Coastal school leader level 3 or equivalent
  • Outdoor leader level 3 or above
  • Playleader level 3 or above
  • Youth worker qualifications
  • Teaching, teaching assistant or childcare qualification
  • First aid qualification
  • Safeguarding level 2
