An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Surgical Theatres.

We currently have opportunity for a Theatre procurement assistant

We have a dedicated Education and Training team who will facilitate a robust induction programme.

Development will be integral part of this role and would suit those who wish to pursue careers within the operating theatres.

The post holder will manage the day to day materials Management service for

dedicated areas within the Trust.

  • Operating within the broad procedural guidelines the objective for the post
holder is to ensure timely and effective stock and non-stock system, ensure

the stock in the store room is at the agreed levels.

  • Ensuring the stock items are put away in the store room.
  • Most of the working day will be spent in the store room therefore a level of
independent judgement will be required.

  • This post covers a range of tasks some of which require the exercise of
initiative.

  • To provide, alongside other staff, a professional procurement service to the
Trust.

  • To assist Trust management in meeting the corporate objectives of the Trust.
  • To lease with companies/Rep's to organise and procure loan equipment for a
busy theatre department.

Supervise, organise the workload of and motivate the Materials management

team.

  • Lead the implementation and maintenance of a materials managed service,
undertaking the day to day ordering activity for theatres

  • Replenishing goods in theatres using shopping lists and requisition sheets.
  • Receive, check and put away deliveries ordered via materials management
service. Ensuring items are rotated and do not exceed expiry dates, stored in

the correct location and maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

  • The position requires physical effort often in confined spaces on a daily basis
such as manual handling of roll cages and unpacking products on to the store

room shelves.

  • Process and monitor discrepancies ensuring that returns and credits are
processed appropriately. Supervisors should provide assistance to team

members as required.

  • Carrying out reviews as required with procurements and appropriate
ward/theatre/department leads, using system information to illustrate

spending patterns identifying products and stock levels.

  • Assist team members with carrying out quarterly reviews by attending at least
two meetings per annum with each team member under supervision.

  • To ensure consignment stock is kept to the contracted levels and replenished
when used.

  • Act as a 'Super User' for Materials Management systems and processes.
  • Keep all associated paper work regularly updated in line with code and
location changes.

  • Have a flexible attitude to working hours to meet the needs of the customer.
  • Assist with the provision of cover to other areas of Materials Management
when necessary, ensuring this is adequate in times of leave and sickness.

  • Ensure compliance with Trust financial instructions and policies.
  • Investigate invoice queries working with both procurement & finance to ensure
accurate payment can be made in a timely fashion.

  • Attending any relevant meetings as the lead of the theatres stores material
management.

  • Assure good working relationships with other departments/companies to
provide smooth running service to the end user.

  • Using the trusts ordering system (Powergate) to run usage/costing reports.
  • Attend monthly Product selection committee meetings as part of the MDT to
keep abreast of changes within the procurement cluster, organise trials and

evaluations.

  • Organise trial & evaluation stock within theatres.
  • Other duties as required.
