Applications are invited for a Senior Qualitative Researcher to contribute qualitative skills and social science expertise in exploring how to translate good ideas from research into sustainable improvements in cancer detection across health systems.

They will form part of the core research team with PIs Dr Brian Nicholson, Dr Juliet Usher-Smith and Dr Anna Dowrick on a new project evaluating initiatives to improve colorectal cancer detection across the UK.


The successful applicant will hold a relevant PhD/DPhil (or near completion) with a background in health services and/or social science research.

The position will suit someone with methodological interests in co-design and ethnography, curiosity about theories of change in health systems, and a desire to make a real difference in delivering sustainable and equitable improvements in cancer outcomes.

You will have a track-record of excellence in qualitative research, and will be a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills who is able to manage their own time.


You will be based in Radcliffe Primary Care, Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Radcliffe Primary Care Building, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG as your normal place of work and you will be able to agree a pattern of regular remote working with your line manager if you wish.
