The Newt in Somerset is a country estate with ancient woodland, historic gardens and far-reaching views.
A new and unique destination attracting recognition at the highest level, with luxury hotel, spa, restaurants and an abundance of homegrown produce.
Our 300-year-old estate welcomes guests from all over the world; a home from home, delivering outstanding service in informal surroundings.

Our Hotel F&B team are placed across two restaurants in our Hotels.
Hadspen House is the focal point of our estate, housing a 23-bedroom hotel, library, bar and kitchen called the Botanical Rooms.
All food is prepared in our kitchen with ingredients fresh from our gardens or locally sourced, ensuring quality and seasonality throughout our offering.
Open for breakfast through to dinner, we also host afternoon tea in the library and early evening cocktails on the terrace.
The department extends into the house, encompassing the bar, library, croquet lawn, terrace and badminton court - delivering exceptional service throughout.
A reimagined dairy nestled in the rolling Somerset hillside, our newest hotel project which houses 17 beautiful guest rooms within a newly renovated farmhouse with outbuildings.
Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner using the finest produce from the estate, we cook in a wood fired oven and our chefs serve straight to the table.
Seasonally lead, hearty yet humble sharing dishes with wine served in a beautiful stone barn, with relaxed yet high-end service and open kitchen.
Our Beverage Team Leader
The Beverage Team Leader, in conjunction with the Bar Manager will help create and maintain a diverse cocktail and spirits list that caters to the needs of the guests, across both hotels.
Prime focus will be on guest's experience of the bar and beverage throughout their stay and supporting your managers in ensuring front of house team delivers and upholds exceptional service levels.
You will be responsible for delivering impeccable service within a team environment, enthusing, coaching, teaching and supporting.Creating and ensuring a close working relationship with all teams is key, as department fluidity is essential for our business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the daytoday guest experience with a focus on the bars to achieve and maintain the following:
- Standards of cleanliness in the bar
- Adherence of SOPs and ensuring the bartenders understand and execute them
- Understand GP and your influence on it
- Aid in achieving operations profit targets through the above
- Have sufficient beverage knowledge to help with sales and tastings of both bar products and wine
- Biweekly orders to ensure the cellar is always stocked in conjunction with the changing nature of the list
- Help the Bar Manager with accurate stock takes and a good understanding of stock control

- To have flair and passion for the food and drink industry
- Help with the training and nurturing of new staff under the guidance of the Bar Manager

- Liaise with events team to ensure private dining and special events are executed well throughout the department

- Maintain company representation, ensuring you always look impeccable.

- To assist in covering holiday and sick days for the bar team
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience as a Bartender or in a bar focused beverage role in highend restaurant or bar
- Willingness to develop, grow and keep up with the demands of our developing business and the drinks industry in general
- Good spirits and cocktail knowledge
- Good understanding of seasonal and local produce
- Confident in service and feels comfortable talking to guests whilst showcasing and presenting the wines

- Great time management and selfmotivated
- Microsoft Office and basic computer skills required
- Previous experience working with communication platform Teams is preferred
- Passion for food, beverage and luxury hospitality
