Description

Women have been disproportionately affected by the cost of living crisis and are facing increased levels of poverty and financial hardship.

The Womens Centre Glasgow has secured funding via the Scottish Illegal Money Lending Unit to run a pilot project to alleviate financial insecurity for women and families.

The role also involves raising awareness of the impact illegal money lending has on individuals, families and the wider community.


We are seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic advice worker with a thorough knowledge of the financial landscape to improve the lives of women and families living with financial insecurity.


Core purpose of the role


To provide advice and support to women and their families facing financial insecurity with the aim of helping to reduce the impact of the financial difficulties they are experiencing.


Raise awareness of the impact of poverty and the cost of living crisis on women and their families through the delivery of training and events to other professionals within the voluntary/public sector and the wider community.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advice to women and their families on issues relating to financial insecurity
  • Deliver advice sessions at The Women's Centre and other voluntary/public organisations in the community
  • Signpost women into other specialist advice services on a needs basis
  • Advocate for women as required
  • Deliver training sessions to professionals on the risks of financial insecurity, illegal money lending, and related topics such as gambling addiction.
  • Liaise with other agencies to deliver workshops on topics such as home energy advice, benefit entitlement, budgeting skills etc.
  • Manage The Women's Centre Financial Emergency Fund
  • Organise and facilitate a quarterly clothes cafe for women and their children
  • Provide a friendly, caring and welcoming atmosphere to all women and children using the centre
  • Take an active role in the overall running of the centre
  • Make a positive contribution as part of the team at The Women's Centre

Job Types:
Full-time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 12 months


Salary:
£28,000.00 per year
