Could you help steer the future direction of a charity supporting vulnerable children and young people?


Based across 60 acres of beautiful countryside, St Elizabeth's Centre is a charity supporting children, young people and adult day clients with epilepsy and other complex medical conditions, the severity of which impacts upon their health, social, behaviour, learning and emotional development.


The Health Care Quality Committee (HCQC) at St Elizabeth's is seeking new members to support the Trustee Board in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities by ensuring that the charity has robust systems and processes in place to provide the highest standards of health and care to its service users.


We are looking for a Committee Member who shares our values and passion for providing the best possible care, and who can contribute constructively to ensuring excellence in health and care provided across our service.

This rewarding role will see Committee Members serve up to a 4-year term of office and can generally expect to spend approximately 12 days per year on Committee duties.


The work of the HCQC entails:

  • attending meetings of the HCQC (around 6 each year) and contributing to Committee business; including reviewing of controls and assurances to ensure effective risk management
- keeping up to date with the operation and progress of St Elizabeth's Supported Living, Children's Home, Health Agency and Day Opportunity services and monitoring action plans in relation to clinical governance
- visiting Supported Living, the Children's Home, Day Opportunities and Health Agency from time-to-time during the day; and
- participating in workshops or training relevant to the role/sector
- experience of working in the health or care sector
- a good knowledge of Care Quality Commission ("CQC") standards and/or Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills ("Ofsted"), as the registration authority for children's homes
- clinical experience, ideally with recent medical or nursing experience would be desirable
- experience in relevant research & development
- experience of working with individuals with learning disabilities and/or epilepsy
