The Strategic Comms Intern will be responsible for support the Strategic Comms team to deliver external and internal communications in line with organisational priorities.

They will also support the organisation's sustainability report development, and theywill help to identify trends and opportunities to develop innovative and engaging external and internal communications.

Supporting the operational organisation of the work of the essential communications team, where multiple workstreams are active and maycompete for prioritisation.


Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the effective of the critical communication team's work through supporting operational workstreams. May include supporting the team by managing and regularly updating 'Monday boards' for effective project management, attending and organisingkey internal and external meetings, possibly supporting some basic financial management (POs etc)
  • Supporting the announcement process that starts with information gathering, key message agreement, adding drafting, review, approval and release, in addition to researching media targets for announcement outreach
  • Develop and lead media monitoring, including drafting regular coverage analysis and updates for wider internal team members
  • Manage the comms and other team's media subscriptions
  • Get up to speed with Roxhill and Signal platforms and ensure the team the making the most of these services through the development and usage of targeted media lists
  • Support the development and communication of our ESG communications, including operational support for the annual Sustainability Report and possible updates to the sustainability webpages
  • Understand the vision and tone of voice of Oxford Nanopore, where the customer is at the heart of our community, and we support the sharing of customer stories by customers.
  • Support management of budget including eg purchase orders.
