A client of mine is currently looking for
Building Safety Managers to support the wider Building Safety and Compliance teams.

We have two opportunities available and can consider the successful applicants being based out of our
Basingstoke, Bristol, Christchurch, or Exeter offices.


The role:


The
Building Safety Manager will hold responsibility for certain tasks, set by the Landlords Accountable Person, to provide expertise and assistance ensuring all SHA obligations and commitments are met while maintaining a transparent audittrail / golden thread with the Landlord Accountable Person to evidence to the regulator.

Working closely with the Head of Building Safety and Compliance and working closely with Safety and Compliance Specialists, the Building Safety Compliance and Standards Manager and the Building Safety and Compliance Administration team, work to ensure thateffective management controls are in place to risk and responsibilities relating to building safety.


The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Promoting a positive collaborative culture of Building Safety and Compliance. Take personal responsibility for escalating any concerns to the Building Safety & Compliance Team for consideration and/or investigation.
  • Assessing building safety risks, taking all reasonable steps to prevent the occurrence of a major incident in the building as a result of these risks;
  • Supporting the development of 'Safety Case Reports' which demonstrates how building safety risks are being identified, mitigated and managed on an ongoing basis;
  • Horizon scanning to prepare for any new/changes to legislation and guidance including the Building Safety Act and Fire Safety Act.
  • Responsibility on informed decision making for projects that are required with an emphasis on customer, and passive / active mitigation in place
  • Reviewing any requested changes against existing system specifications identifying potential overlap and resolving these issues
  • Ensuring the correct level of 'control of contractors' are being adhered to
  • Proactively engage with the internal Development team through the design an construction phases for all new properties to ensure all required as built information (including building information modelling (BIM)) is collated, available and to the requiredstandard
  • Reporting activities surrounding Building Safety and Compliance activities

What we're looking for:


  • Excellent knowledge and experience of building safety and in particular fire safety within large property portfolios
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure and to manage both long and short term workstreams and priorities.
  • Experience of managing a range of stakeholders and working at a senior management level
  • A wide knowledge base within residential property and related safety / compliance areas
  • Level 6 CIOB Diploma in Building Safety is desirable.
  • A track record of success of a complex technical area, translating vision into a deliverable programme within a challenging and dynamic environment
  • Educated to degree level education or equivalent membership such as RICS, RIBA or MCIOB.
  • AIFireE Level Membership to the IFE or equivalent.
  • Ability to impact assess to understand the difference between 'major' and 'minor' data issues
  • Understanding of data breaches, associated implications and industry standards of preventing/triaging a breach
