We have an opportunity for a qualified Retrofit Assessor to join our Energy Capital team, working on our SMART Hub retrofit programme.

You'll carry out retrofit assessments on domestic properties to support delivery of high quality retrofit projects in the West midlands.

Working as part of the wider Energy Capital Hub team, you'll support and advise on delivery of retrofit assessments, produce Energy Performance Certificates and produce detailed and accurate site plans.

Your role will be split between office and home working, as well as site visits when necessary to undertake retrofit assessments, and attendance of occasional training courses, external meetings and conferences.

This is an excellent opportunity for Domestic Energy Assessor/Retrofit Assessor to develop their skills and build a long-term career within the retrofit sector, with opportunities for further development, including progressing to become retrofit coordinator and learn from being part of an established retrofit delivery team working across the West Midlands region.

The successful applicant will be required to complete a Enhanced DBS check as part of our pre-employment checks. This role is fixed term for 2 years.

What will you be doing?

  • Undertake retrofit assessments to a high standard, including producing detailed and accurate site plans
  • Liaise with WMCA partners to support and advise on delivery of retrofit assessments across WMCA retrofit projects
  • Attend client meetings, conferences and training as necessary
  • Support the Retrofit Technical Standards Manager to develop and implement retrofit best practice across WMCA projects and to record learning for wider dissemination
  • Produce accurate Energy Performance Certificates
  • Produce detailed and accurate site plans
  • Gather and compile information on retrofit projects to enable more effective project management and reporting on retrofit projects

Working with local authorities, regulators, energy companies and national government, the team is responsible for the delivery of the Regional Energy Strategy and securing the investment and powers necessary to enable this.

Our partnership, with its secretariat based within the Combined Authority, combines energy infrastructure providers, ambitious local authorities, world-leading academic expertise and innovation support, with diverse businesses and leading energy entrepreneurs.


About you*You'll be a qualified and experienced Retrofit Assessor or Domestic Energy Assessor with good knowledge of home energy efficiency and the built environment sector.

Being able to communicate clearly, alert to sensitivities of working in people's homes and managing expectations is essential.

Due to the nature of the role, it is essential you have a full driving license or are able to travel to sites as needed.


Essential experience:

  • Experience as Domestic Energy Assessor
  • Experience in domestic retrofit projects
  • Producing Energy performance Certificates
  • Experience as a Retrofit Assessor
Essential Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Experience as a PAS Retrofit Assessor
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a fastpaced team
  • Knowledge and understanding of PAS2030/PAS203
  • Show good awareness of Health and Safety onsite and be willing and able to raise concerns where appropriate
  • A good understanding of a range of building services systems particularly heating, Insulation, and ventilation systems
Essential qualifications/Professional memberships

  • Level 3: certificate in Domestic Energy Assessment
  • Level 4: Award in Domestic Retrofit Assessment
  • Full driving license or evidence of ability to travel to site
