Community Eyecare (CHEC) are the largest provider of community ophthalmology services in the UK.

Established in 2012 as a provider of NHS eyecare outside the hospital setting, the organisation has grown rapidly as the largest provider of community eyecare in England.

All patients that are referred throughout the country are processed and booked via our Referral & Bookings Management Centre.

As an NHS commissioned service, our aim is that our referral and bookings team is the most responsive to patient needs, the safest, and the best Nationwide.


About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Team Leader at our head office in Fulwood, Preston. If successful, you will be managing a team of 10-12 advisors.


Our team thrive in our busy Referral Management Booking Centre and enjoy an atmosphere where everyone takes on a high level of personal responsibility for achieving outstanding service whilst building strong relationships both internally and externally.


We are looking for a motivated individual with experience of managing a team in a similar customer services/contact centre environment.

Full time, permanent hours a week working 5 days over Monday to Saturday.


Main responsibilities
We are looking for a person who can lead and support our excellent team here at CHEC.

The team leader support the RBMC Manager with the monitoring of daily tasks, ensuring that the team are fully trained and supported.


  • Guide, support and mentor team members in their role.
  • Allocate tasks to each team member, whilst providing an autonomous working environment for the team.
  • Be approachable, knowledgeable and show understanding of any challenges the team need support to manage.
  • Monitor the team, reviewing workload and ensuring that work is allocated, especially if one geographical area's demand increases or peaks.
  • Manage the team to ensure patients calls are answered promptly and patients are managed in a caring manner.
  • Support with gathering of information and reporting as required

Who we are looking for


The ideal team leader will have experience in working in a customer service/contact centre environment and a proven track record of working in a target driven environment.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and can effectively motivate the patient booking coordinators to meet all patient needs.


  • Experience of patient information systems
  • Excellent IT skills including competent with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to prioritise workload and monitor workloads of the team
  • Understanding of confidentiality
  • Ability to quickly assess and respond to challenges
