Overview


Due to increased client demand an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Accounts Assistant or Assistant Management Accountant with excellent knowledge of cloud accounting packages to join the busy business services and outsourcing team of a growing AccountancyPractice.


Financial Reporting Assistant - About the Role

  • Preparation of management accounts using tech enabled tools for a variety of businesses. This will account for about a two thirds of the role.
  • Also managing the accounts inbox, dealing with queries, processing of purchase invoices, bank reconciliations, receipting of sales invoices, processing expense claims, prepare and process journals including payroll.
  • You will prepare VAT returns, understanding VAT requirements, concepts, and calculations.
Strong understanding of key control account postings and reconciliations/treatments such as income, fixed assets, payroll, accruals, and prepayments.

  • Set up new clients on the bookkeeping system and registering VAT schemes with HMRC.
  • Prepare the year end accounting files and ensure they are complete, with back up schedules to support balance sheet figures.
  • Prepare draft business tax computations
  • Maintain and build relationships with clients.

The successful Financial Reporting Assistant will have:

  • Excellent knowledge of cloud accounting packages (especially Xero) essential. Knowledge of QuickBooks, Sage L50, excel based cash books, IRIS (ideally), Word,
  • Good knowledge of Outlook/Microsoft packages
  • Highly IT literate. Proficient in short cuts in various software. Able to adapt quickly to new software and navigate between screens and platforms proficiently.
  • AAT level 4 qualification (or QBE)
  • Previous experience working in an accounts department or 'outsourced' finance function where regular contact is needed with suppliers and customers (and your clients if applicable) managing all aspects of the daytoday bookkeeping including managing theaccounts in box, purchase and sales ledgers, credit control and bank reconciliations.
  • Managing a portfolio of bookkeeping clients with a good knowledge of the VAT rules on what can and cannot be claimed as well as being proficient in VAT return preparation and submission.
