Purchasing & Transport Coordinator on behalf of a reputable manufacturing client based in
Mossley, Ashton-Under-Lyne
(OL5).

Office Hours: 08:30 - 17:00 Monday to Thursday, 08:30 - 16:00 Friday

  • Location: Mossley (OL5)
  • Salary: £25,000 £27,000


The Purchasing and Transport Coordinator will be responsible for the purchasing of materials for the manufacturing team and supplier management, as well as arranging transport of goods from the business' manufacturing site to customers.


Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Liaising with local and national suppliers to order raw materials for manufacturing. Working from existing price lists and with existing suppliers.
  • Having a commercial sense of choosing which supplier to go with taking into account the speed of delivery as well as the cost. Our client does prefer to use local suppliers due to supporting local businesses, and reducing their carbon footprint, so this would be preferred wherever possible.
  • Monthly stock take of raw materials in the production area
  • Liaising with production in relation to their schedule to try and plan ahead with ordering
  • Organising customer deliveries liaising with a number of external transport companies to negotiate the best price possible for each order (local and national transport providers)
  • Ensuring correct transport is booked dependent on pallet size required for each order
  • Completing delivery notes
  • Invoicing customers
  • Processing customer orders on the CRM system
  • Producing and sending out quotations to customers (existing customers and new enquiries)
  • Any other ad hoc administrative jobs as required
  • Have office administration experience within the manufacturing is preferred.
  • Have experience within purchasing and supplier management (desirable)
  • Have experience within organising transport (desirable)
  • Be hardworking, reliable, and punctual.
  • Be commercially aware.
  • Have great attention to detail and ability to maintain great levels of accuracy whilst working in a fastpaced environment.
  • Be a great team player that is helpful, polite and wants to contribute towards the success of the business.
