What you'll be doing:
  • Leading the commercial activities associated with allocated contract changes including leading the Request for Bid Approval (RBA) process, generating high quality proposals, leading on negotiating minor changes and supporting complex changes to satisfactory conclusion with the customer
  • Manage and resolve customer queries and issues in your area of responsibility, escalating significant problems as appropriate
  • Manage the implementation of procedures and controls across the programme to ensure compliance to the contract, focusing on preventing scope creep and margin protection
  • Delivery of commercial and contractual support to the Type 26 project on all aspects of commercial management and interpretation of the contract

Your skills and experiences:


Essential:

  • You will have good communication skills together with the ability to relate challenging scenarios to both customers and internal stakeholders
  • You will have a broad professional knowledge and understanding of commercial principles, techniques and practices, including an understanding of the impact of commercial decisions

Desirable:

  • Detailed and disciplined approach to commercial and pricing activities
  • You will have good knowledge of contractual change management

The Commercial team:


Our Commercial Team provide commercial services and support to the senior management within the Type 26 project of BAE Systems.

This is an exciting and dynamic team that works closely with our customer to ensure the successful delivery of the project.

As part of this role you will be operating as an integral part of the Type 26 project team to provide a high quality commercial service to meet the operational needs of the programme and function.

The role will be focussed on delivery of key Type 26 contract aspects and will be pivotal to the success of the programme.

Whether it is being involved in, amongst many other aspects, the change process, contract dependencies or risk and mitigation management, this will involve working closely with our customer and internal stakeholders.
