Recruiting and retaining the best people is a key priority for the Trust.

This role has overall responsibility for our recruitment service to ensure we have the workforce we need to deliver our services and provide excellent patient care.

We are particularly seeking to recruit now to support leadership and management of this function through the winter period.

You will work very closely with our Temporary Staffing and Rostering teams ensuring our valued colleagues are able to be deployed to areas of most need both within RCHT and across the Integrated Care Partnership.

The Temporary Head of Recruitment will be responsible for:

  • Providing specialist advice on all aspects of recruitment. Working with recruiting managers within the Trust and across the ICS, to design creative solutions to recruitment issues and hard to recruit to posts. The post holder will confidently take recruitment briefs noting challenges and offer workable solutions.
To lead, design and manage specific recruitment campaigns to address challenging hard to recruit positions.

Specifically, to manage International Recruitment campaigns ensuring effective delivery and reporting to funding bodies.

Management of the Recruitment team ensuring alignment with the Trust People & OD strategy and developing Resourcing Strategy.

Contributing to the development of ongoing strategic and operational recruitment planning.

Supporting the Associate Director of Resourcing to regularly review and update the Trusts Employee Value Proposition (EVP).


Ensuring all appropriate employment checks are completed in a timely and effective manner and that relevant documentation is provided in line with prevailing employment legislation.


Timely provision of contractual documentation to those working within the Trust in line with legislation and good practice and provide advice on the same.

Lead on the use of various social media platforms as recruitment tool.

Proactively undertake labour market research to inform recruitment strategies for specific job roles.

To be responsible for booking and managing attendance at relevant external recruitment events.

In conjunction with appropriate HR colleagues and Care Group representatives, undertake planning of recruitment campaigns for non-medical staff groups.


Providing timely and accurate reporting of measures to illustrate the Trust's current and future recruitment performance against strategic objectives, operational objectives, key performance indicators and service level agreements.


Lead and consult with IT colleagues on the digitalisation of the Recruitment Service where this contributes to the effectiveness of the service and improve onboard experience of applicants.
