Description
Wood is currently recruiting for a Structural Designer with experience in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical or similar sector of the industry to provide support to our Client Tullow Oil in our Glasgow offices.
The Structural Designer will join a multi-discipline engineering team, supporting Tullow Oil on a hybrid basis in the Glasgow Office.
- Prepares engineering drawings in their discipline area from rough sketches or from general engineering and design information according to established standards and procedures
- Create designs and sketch out detailed plans for projects such as commercial, industrial, and civil sector structures and plant and/or manufactured products and systems
- Plans and carries out technical assignments of substantial variety and complexity. Capable of handling assignments which involve a variety of procedures and techniques
- Undertakes technical assignments that are a significant part of an ongoing engineering program Prepares mechanical or digital drawings, diagrams or blueprints and/or models of various products or structures, using computeraided drafting (CAD) and/or computeraided drafting and design (CADD) software
Qualifications:
- Minimum ISCED level 5 shortcycle tertiary education in engineering discipline
- Must have valid Offshore Certs and be willing to go offshore
Knowledge, skills and experience:
- A full understanding of the materials and methods normally used in their discipline
- An understanding of related engineering principles and practices, plus training and diversified experience in the field of activity is required
- Capable of interpreting key documents including; engineering standards, material specifications, P&IDs and Line List
- Competent user of CAD/D software
- Prepares engineering drawings in their discipline area from rough sketches or from general engineering and design information according to established standards and procedures
